FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Why should I consider becoming a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church ? What does it mean to be a church member? What’s the big deal about tithing? Our world and our lives are full of questions. We want to help you with your spiritual questions and here are some answers to the most asked questions so far…

  1. How do I know that I am saved and going to heaven?

God doesn’t want us to be “in the dark” about our salvation. He has done everything to help us know that we know that we belong to Him and that heaven is our home.

I John 5:13, “These things have I written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.”
Salvation is something we can know because it isn’t based on emotions or feelings but on obedience to The Bible directions. There are four action steps every one of us must make:

  • ADMIT that God has not been first in our life and ask Him to forgive us of our sins. I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from every wrong.” When you trust Christ, God wipes away all your sin and you start over.
  • BELIEVE that Jesus died to pay for your sins and that He rose again on Easter and is alive today. Romans 10:9, “If you confess that Jesus is your Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” To make Jesus “lord” means He is the one in charge, the Boss, the CEO of our life. Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name (Jesus) by which we must be saved.”
  • ACCEPT God’s free gift of salvation, and don’t try to earn it. Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are you saved, through faith…and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” There would be a lot of boasting in heaven if we could save ourselves and God won’t have that, so He says there’s no way we can save ourselves. Salvation doesn’t come, as some say, by speaking in tongues, being baptized, joining a church or living a good life…that’s “belief plus religion” and that’s not God’s Word. We are saved through grace alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone.
  • INVITE Jesus Christ to come into your life and be the Lord of your life. John 1:12, “To all who receive Him, He gives the right to become children of God. All we need to do is to trust Him to save us. All those who believe this are reborn!—not a physical birth…but from the will of God.” This is how salvation comes…believe and receive.

Jesus says, “Behold I stand at the door of your life and I am knocking. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door of their life to me, I will come in…” You can open the door to your life by praying to Jesus like this:

"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that I have not put you in your proper place in my life. If I were to die right now I would go to Hell. I need you in my life and I ask you to forgive me of my sins and to forgive me and come into my life. I know that you died for my sin and I accept you as my only savior and hope of heaven. I want to serve you and do your will. Thank you for saving me and giving me a home in heaven.”
